"Personal Growth" No. 2 - There's so many hidden messages in this photograph I took to portray these recent feelings that don't have a name to them yet. I'm expressing myself here but thoughtfully and gracefully through metaphors. I never thought a piece of clear plastic could mean so much but when I wrapped the flowers, it was an immediate powerful statement. And not only to myself, but about myself. The mirror was held up so to speak, and acceptance came and went, and I was left with this new feeling of a hidden strength, a new all seeing eye.

These flowers, an Iris, we had growing up in my home in North Carolina. They grew along the sides of the house, and the smell takes me back, in age by like 20 years to when I would just smell the flowers waft in the air and through my bedroom window. Safety, Love, and my Mother are those smells.

Its a heavy weight that falls against these dainty petals. But their core is strong, and so is their foundation. They've been cut, and lifted from the ground and are now here to provide momentary beauty. But all they know how to do, is grow ... no matter where they are. "Death" isn't a word that the Iris know.
